Header About

Claire Elise Boucher (born March 17, 1988), better known by her stage persona and character Grimes, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, musician, producer, artist and music video director. Born and raised in Vancouver, she first became involved with the underground music scene and began recording her own experimental music while attending McGill University in Montréal. Her debut album, titled Geidi Primes was released in 2010. Halfaxa, her second solo studio album was also released the same year. The two were followed by Darkbloom in 2011, a split album with d'Eon later re-released as an extended play featuring solely songs by Grimes. She released her first single, Genesis, in early 2012, from her fourth and breakthrough album Visions which was released shortly after. Music videos for Nightmusic, Oblivion and Genesis were made to promote the album, which peaked number 8 on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart (Billboard). Grimes toured North America and Europe to promote the album, and performed at several festivals. Go was released as a single in 2014, and in 2015 Grimes released a demo titled REALiTi, from an album she said she had scrapped. Just a few days afterwards, Grimes released a song featuring the band Bleachers as a single, titled Entropy, from the soundtrack of HBO series Girls. Art Angels, Grimes' fifth long play was released November 6, 2015, and quickly became her highest charting record, was met with stellar reviews and was featured in several year-end lists of best albums of 2015, making the top 3 several times. Singles Flesh without Blood and SCREAM were also released before the album, as well as promotional single Life in the Vivid Dream, and later Kill V. Maim in January 2016 and California in May of the same year. (read more)
